My name is Seth Adam Smith. You might recognize my name from an article titled “Marriage Isn’t For You,” or from a number of programs on suicide prevention. I’m a writer and blogger that writes about (and struggles with) chronic depression.
When I was twenty years old, I made a serious attempt on my life. Miraculously, I survived and since that time I’ve learned some valuable, life-changing lessons about how to handle my depression and move forward. The central mission and message of my life is to look to the light and keep moving forward. To me, this also means maintaining a firm belief in God and helping others along the rocky road of life.
This website is part of that mission. Once a week, I will publish a new and inspirational blog post. If you are struggling with the challenges of life, it is my hope that this website will inspire you to keep moving forward.
My book, Your Life Isn’t For You, details some of the lessons I learned before and after my suicide attempt. The response I’ve received from this book has been amazing and it’s currently being translated into Bulgarian, Czech, Romanian, and Russian. My first fiction book, Rip Van Winkle and the Pumpkin Lantern, is now available. Click on this link to see a full list of my published books.
Every other week, I publish The Northern Lights, a bi-weekly newsletter dedicated to sharing “the Northern Lights of Life,” inspirational material from around the web. Click here to sign up for the newsletter.
I offer consulting services for writing/blogging and I do a lot of speaking. If you would like to contact me about any of these things or if you have any other questions or comments please click here.
